It is all in the eyes | Review

Before you read any further, I want to let you know I am in my early 20s. I do not have wrinkles (yet) which means I will NOT comment on the anti-ageing properties of eye products. But I do have dark circles and I had them ever since I was a kid. And I would love to get rid of them. Unfortunately, no matter how much sleep I am getting or food I am eating or water I am drinking those pesky under eye circles just do not go away.

Since I am rather young for anti-ageing products I did not think eye creams are as necessary as moisturisers in my routine, however, the strong desire to get rid of annoying shadows pushed me to try some eye products.

Odacité Baobab Sarsaparilla Eye Contour Serum Concentrate RRP £39 for 5ml - PM Routine

Odacité was born from a wake up call, causing the founder to reflect on her illness and reach for the purity and potency of nature. Odacité sources the finest and best ingredients from all over the world. Each bottle comes with a leaflet which allows you to see where the ingredients have been extracted. Each bottle comes as a targeted treatment containing only a few ingredients. This allows the user to mix and match their skincare according to their needs.

Supercharged with vitamin A, E and F and sterol, this eye serum promises to reduce wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. Formulated with nourishing baobab the serum can add a boost of hydration to your eye cream or can simply be used by itself. I used the serum by itself and I only needed one drop per application - use pipette to drop one drop to a ring finger, spread the serum on two fingers and dab the serum around the eyes and brush the excess on my eyelashes. You would be surprised how far one drop can go! Despite the breathtaking price, this eye serum lasts for a very long time. The aroma is very herbal but it very faint and does not linger after application or annoy the delicate skin around the eyes.

One thing to note is that the melting point is quite high for this oil, meaning during cold winter month it will solidify in the container and it will become harder and harder to get the serum out of the box. During winter I had to place the bottle into a bowl with warm water every time I wanted to use it. Does it deliver? The skin around my eye definitely was nicely nourished however I did not see any improvement of my under eye circles.

If you have not noticed, look at the price. And then look at how much you are getting. Crazy, right?

Trilogy CoQ10 Eye Recovery Concentrate RRP £26.50 for 7.5ml - AM Routine

The most exciting part of this eye cream for me was the presence of the metal ball. I thought it would the perfect way for someone as lazy as I am to apply eye products, ensuring even spreading of the product and no-fingers-necessary application. Well, I was wrong. The bottle needed a bit of a shake each time I wanted to use, otherwise no product would be present on the roller ball. Most of the time the shaking would cause some of the product to leak out so if I was to roll on my eyelids, this would deposit too much product. Instead, if too much product came out at the top I would use my ring finger to dab and spread the product on my eye area. Otherwise I would roll the ball and dab the product deposited around my eye area for equal distribution.

Formulated to tone and brighten, this cream boasts ingredients such as Coenzyme Q10, chia seed oil, green coffee and tea extracts. Yellow-green eye concentrate does not have any added fragrance hence the smell can be rather strange (mainly metal-like if you are sniffing straight from the applicator). The texture is very light and sinks in very well, making this a great choice for prepping the eye area before make up application. In terms of performance, as before, the eye product provides adequate hydration to the eye area but unfortunately did very little to help with my dark circles.

The size is 7.5ml - half of the standard eye cream. This makes this serum also rather pricey compared to other eye creams. On the other hand, this tube lasted me for a very long time!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Olivate (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Extract, Coffea Arabica (Green Coffee) Seed Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Matricaria (chamomile) Flower Extract, Jojoba Esters, Vaccinium Angustifolia (Blueberry) Seed Oil, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Seed Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Co-Enzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone), Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Glycerin (Vegetable), Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid (and) Benzyl Alcohol

As you can see, my battle with dark circles has not been won (YET). I am always looking out for products which can help me. One day the enemy will be conquered. Until then, concealer is my armour.
