Review: Aromatherapy Associates Facial Oil and Bath & Shower Oil

22:57

I came across this brand while browsing on Naturisimo and very plain minimalistic packaging caught my eye. Rather peculiar for a plain packaging to stand out however in the myriad of pretty looking lotions and potions simplicity is unique. One would even go further to suggest that if a brand does not invest into making the packaging eye-pleasing they must be confident in the performance of their products!

Aromatherapy Associates is a UK based brand which specialises in aromatherapy (in case you have not guessed it from the name) and have over 30 years of experience. Founders have a mission of sharing the power of aromatherapy to heal both the body and the mind. You might expect a bohemian vibe when hearing about aromatherapy however let me tell you, Aromatherapy Associates are exactly the opposite. Their products come with a hefty price tag and can be found at luxurious spa and top hotels. You can find a bottle of essential oil for a few quid however good quality essential oils are very expensive which justifies the cost of the products. The brand promises that bath, body and skincare are free from:

  • Mineral or sulphonated oils which can block the performance of the essential oils
  • GM ingredients
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
  • Petrolatum
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Parabens
The brand is cruelty free too 😀

I was curious to try their products so I have managed to buy 2 of their bath & shower oils at a massive discount on one of the websites and a sample of hydrating revitalising facial oil.

Naturisimo sells a 3ml sample for £3.50 (RRP £45 for 15ml). Please note, the sample came with a screw on lid but I changed to the one with a pipette which you can see on my photos. The range includes a total of 6 facial oils to suit different skin types however this was the only available sample. Hydrating revitalising facial oil is suitable for all skin types and includes rose, sandalwood and frankincense oils creating a lovely bouquet. I have oily skin so I use this oil after acid peeling when I want to add a bit more nourishment to my skin. It does not feel greasy or uncomfortable and does not clog or break me out. Would I pay £45 for this oil? Probably not so I am glad I only bought a sample. Don't take me wrong, I think this oil is great but if I had to buy a facial oil (which I don't because I have quite a few unopened bottles waiting their turn) I probably would choose something else.

Ingredients: PRUNUS PERSICA (PEACH) KERNEL OIL, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, BORAGO OFFICINALIS (BORAGE) OIL, PELARGONIUM GRAVEOLENS (GERANIUM) OIL, ROSA DAMASCENA (ROSE) OIL, FUSANUS SPICATUS (AUSTRALIAN SANDALWOOD) OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN (PATCHOULI) OIL, PARFUM**, BOSWELLIA CARTERII (FRANKINCENSE) OIL, TOCOPHEROL (NATURAL VITAMIN E), LIMONENE*, GERANIOL*, CITRONELLOL*, LINALOOL*.
*Natural Essential Oil Contents **Natural Plant Extracts

10 different bath & shower oils come in 55ml bottles for £45 each. I am not made of money so I have managed to find them discounted. I have support breathe (left) and de stress (right). The directions call to add a capful of oil to bathtub or spread all over the body before showering. I have found that adding half of cap is enough to create a great long lasting aroma in my bathroom. When I had a cold using support breathe was very soothing and helping to clear the sinuses (not a miracle worker though). Be careful after using these oils as your bathtub can become quite slippery!

Support breathe ingredients: COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS (EUCALYPTUS) OIL, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) OIL, PARFUM**, PINUS SYLVESTRIS (PINE) OIL, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) OIL, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA (TEA TREE) OIL, GERANIOL*, LINALOOL*, LIMONENE*, COUMARIN*.
*Natural Essential Oil Contents **Natural Plant Extracts

De stress ingredients: COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM AMARA (BITTER ORANGE) LEAF/TWIG OIL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL, ORMENIS MULTICAULIS (WILD CAMOMILE) OIL, PARFUM**, BOSWELLIA CARTERII (FRANKINCENSE) OIL, BENZYL BENZOATE*, GERANIOL*, LINALOOL*, LIMONENE*.
*Natural Essential Oil Contents **Natural Plant Extracts

The summary

The good: incredible aroma
The bad: official website lacks detailed information about ingredients of individual product
The notable: finest quality of products

If you are looking for luxurious spa products then look no further! This brand certainly offers top quality bath, body and skincare products which can make a perfect present. However if you are on a budget I would recommend trying to find a sample first before splurging out on a full sized bottle.
